network outage

So, things have been weird since around 2:45pm. (It seems I get to send 30 or 40 pings to Stanford and then it goes away again; wash, rinse, repeat).

According to CenturyLink,

There is currently an outage in your area that may be impacting your service. The outage is expected to be resolved by September 24,2026 9:06 PM.

That's all I know at this point, but it does seem reasonable to assume that they're working on it. Also assuming that's PDT.

Update> (6:30pm): They've updated the notice to say September 25,2026 6:38 PM. Which is tomorrow. But I also seem to be back on the network. So I don't know whether they typoed the day or some piece of this turned out to be harder than expected. We'll see.

Update (9:30pm): ETA is now September 25,2026 11:01 AM. So, apparently not a typo. OTOH people have evidently been able to connect. Go figure.
